Microblog Mondays: Sunshine

(Why "Microblog Mondays"?  Mel explains.)

(This actually evolved from a Facebook update.)

I love seeing the sunshine flooding into my living room in the late afternoon/early evening... something I didn't get to see as much when I was working. It makes me happy! :)  (I believe there SAD is real)  & it makes the house look like a completely different place.

(Hmmm, wasn't this a John Denver song?)

  1. That just made me smile. I love listening to John Denver when we're out in West Virginia. Now I'll think of you when I hear that song.

  2. When I was in school band in the mid-70s, our favourite piece of all the ones we performed was a John Denver medley (probably because it was the most "contemporary" thing in our repertoire)... starting with Leaving on a Jet Plane, then Take Me Home Country Roads, and winding up with Rocky Mountain High. :) And "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" got played at every dance I went to. Usually near the end, when everyone had had a few. ;)

Another song of his I loved was "Follow Me," which Olivia Newton-John also covered. A friend of mine used to sing it at weddings, and I thought of asking her to sing it at mine, but the minister stipulated the music had to be hymns. The one exception was "The Wedding Song (There is Love)" and so she sang that one instead.

  3. Though he sang about WV and jet planes, we claim him in these parts.

"Sweet Surrender" is one of my favorites. Thanks for reminding me :-)

  4. Oh I love this. My house on a sunny day makes me so so happy. And i had to laugh at your John Denver reference. I had to learn "Country Roads" at primary school for a music festival. I still know all the words and tortured DH by singing it as we drove through the Blue Ridge Mountains about 15 years ago.

  6. Sun in the living room in the AM. But that peeking through the trees and kitchen window bathing everything in a soft glow . . love.

The daughter and I were talking about John Denver the other day. For the life of me I don't remember why.
