Happiness is...

A Facebook find. :)
A hard lesson to learn (& one I am still learning, to some extent),
but a necessary one.

  1. Absolutely! You may feel you're still learning, but I think you're such a good example of this. (I was just going to say this elsewhere). I think that just being aware we need to do this is half the battle.

  2. I was reading a book in which one character discovers he is unexpectedly going to be a father and he's talking to his sister in law who is desperate to get pregnant. He tells her that any idiot can have a baby, but to have a real marriage in which both people truly love each other is something far more rare and should be celebrated. Of course that doesn't satisfy her--why can't she have both? But it did make me think about what drives our desires to have a life that looks a certain way, and what would happen if those expectations were removed and we couldn't compare what we had expected with what we have now. I've read that comparison is the thief of joy, and I often tell myself that when I think someone else's life is enviable. Happiness takes so many shapes but we often seem to think it can only look one way.
